The Clarkson Surgery

HOW DO I....
OBTAIN A REPEAT PRESCRIPTION?

Patients on regular medication will require repeat prescriptions. For a safer, speedier service, repeat prescriptions are computerised. Your doctor will have entered onto a computer the medication you are taking and each time a new prescription is written by the computer, a new request form is also generated for you to make your request.

Requests for repeat prescriptions are not usually taken over the telephone unless you are a dispensing patient.

- Allow two working days for your prescription to be processed.

- If you have more than one repeat prescription please try and order all your items together.

- Either deliver or post your repeat prescription form to the surgery. We can send the prescription form to your home address but remember to enclose a stamped addressed envelope. Please note that you can also collect your prescription from the surgery. Repeat prescriptions are not available while attending emergency surgeries.

- If you are receiving any medication which is not on your request form, please add this clearly on the request slip and this will be added after verification with the doctor.

Dispensary

To facilitate our rural patients, prescriptions can be prepared and ready for collection directly from the surgery. Please telephone the surgery one day in advance when ordering more than three items. The practice operates a free prescription delivery service for those dispensing patients who find it difficult to attend the surgery.
Opening hours are 8.30am - 1.00pm and 2.00 - 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

Prescription Charges

People in the following categories are automatically exempt from prescription charges: children under 16, those under 19 who are in full time education, people over 60 years of age, pregnant women and women who have had a baby in the last 12 months, people in receipt of DSS benefits and those with specific medical conditions.

'Season Tickets'

It is sometimes worthwhile to buy a season ticket for pre-payment prescription charges. A prescription charge currently is £7.10 per item. Season tickets are currently £27.85 for three months and £102.50 for one year. This means that when using a season ticket, once 15 items have been dispensed, the ticket has paid for itself. £102.50 may sound a lot, but works out at £1.97 per week for all your prescriptions! Compared to the actual cost of medication this represents excellent value.
